Butterfly Milkweed also known as Asclepias Tuberosa, have beautiful long blooming orange clustered flowers. It serves as a host plant for Monarch caterpillars and can provide nectar to the butterflies too. The Seed-floss from Butterfly Milkweed also played an important role in WW II. Butterfly milkweed and Common Milkweed seed-floss was used as padding inside of the life vest for the soldiers. Large populations of the plant can still be found in areas where milkweed seed-floss processing facilities were located in the States in the great Lakes and Northern United.
